In this short Nepalorama client interview, we asked Ellie and Jan from the UK what they thought about their trek in Nepal. They trekked with our founder Krishna in the Langtang Valley in September 2018. They didn’t quite make it all the way to the holy lakes of Gosaikunda due to heavy rain – but it didn’t dampen their spirits! This is their Langtang Valley recommendation!

Describe your Nepal trek in one sentence!
“Fantastic 9 days in the Langtang Valley – amazing scenery and great people!”
You can trek in the Langtang Valley for as little as five or six days and enjoy incredible views. This stunning trek is perfect for nature lovers and it’s completely different depending on when you visit. The landscape was so green when Ellie and Jan trekked, compared to when Krishna and I trekked the same trail in January! Trek in March or early April and you’ll walk through the spectacular forests of rhododendrons that the Langtang region is famous for!

What surprised you most during your visit to Nepal?
“How high and green the mountains were but then snow in some places – it was so varied!”
What did you enjoy most about your trek?
“Reaching the peak at 4,770m was pretty epic – we’d never been that high before and it felt like a great achievement!”

Enjoy spectacular views of Langtang Lirung (7,227m/23,711ft) the highest peak in the Langtang Himal, from the summit of Kyanjin-Ri (4,773m/15,659ft).
What did you enjoy least (if anything!) about your trek?
“The bus trip there and back was very long but totally worth it!”
The only way to access treks in Langtang is by road, either by bus or private jeep. The latter is quite expensive so most trekkers opt to take the bus.
What advice would you give to others trekking Nepal for the first time?
“Don’t be shy or too nervous. Do some training before and it will be fine!”

This is great advice! If you want to trek Nepal, make a plan and get trekking fit! With our amazing guides taking care of you and encouraging you along the way, you’ll be surprised about what you can achieve! The Langtang Valley is a great beginners trek, or choose the Annapurna region and trek to one of the most popular vantage points in the Himalaya – Ghorepani Poon Hill.
Tell us about your favourite Nepal memory!
“Reaching the peak was just incredible.”

What made you choose Nepalorama Trekking to organise your trek in Nepal?
“Nepalorama was recommended by a friend which was why we initially got in touch but we chose them because Anna was so responsive and helpful. So glad we did as the whole trip was great, every little detail had been thought of!”
Do you plan to return to Nepal one day? If so, which trek is next on your list and why?
“We’d love to come back to Nepal and Gokyo lakes is next on the list because Krishna made it sound awesome!”

Many people combine a trek to Everest Base Camp with Gokyo, or you can trek directly to and from Gokyo. Ask us about options based on the number of days you have available to trek Nepal!
